When in a family there is a death of a person then according to the Hindu traditions all his last rituals should be performed properly at his funeral and only then the soul attains freedom from this materialistic world. If the rituals are not performd properly or the death is not a natural death and is a Akal Mrutyu (अकाल मुत्यु) then the soul remains in the Pretyoni(प्रेतयोनी) where as it is suppose to go to the Pitruyoni.(पित्रुयोनी). The souls which are stuck in this vicious circle of Pitruyoni(पित्रुयोनी), we perform shraddha, pinda daan for them. But all the efforts are in vain and hence to get rid of this problem we have to perform narayan Nagbali.
